Awesome, Meghan. Really interested in the beef barley story. Our Megan is helping to start a beef and cattle operation in WY using earth-sensitive methods. I'll try to locate the article and pass it along to her. Keep it up!
Great update Meg, thanks for sharing; about books, and stories, and all that stuff, BUT A MARBLED NEW YORK! OMG, did you take a picture, write all you want, but pictures = 1K words, I'm sure photographs are a writer's nemesis, BUT A MARBLED NEW YORK??!!
Just yanking your chain, as always ;) Seriously, good going Meghan, I'm always so proud of your journey. UM
Last night, we grilled our first New York steak from Barley Beef and it was amazing! I don't eat a ton of beef for environmental reasons, but this steak was raised and processed within 20 miles of where I live, so I feel pretty good about that. It tasted sweet, salty, fatty, tender. SO GOOD. I didn't taste like beer, exactly, but the meat was "marbled to perfection" as advertized (thanks to the cow's diet). I highly recommend buying meat directly from the rancher if you can. The taste difference is like night and day. (and I might have steak and eggs for breakfast.)
Thanks Sharon! Next time we see each other we'll really have something to cheers about! Also, thanks to you, I'm seeing where I can fit in cooked skunk meat ;)
Congratulations! Wonderful news. I just sent in my submission to COW and will miss seeing you there, but I'll loop back at the end of summer. Can't wait to hear about the residency!!!

Your beef barley article sounds fascinating. Does the beef taste like beer?
