I can't write about Lake Tahoe's history without a better understanding of the entire American West. With so many layers and players to choose from, of course I'm starting with language...
I had this stared in my inbox and finally read through. Thank you for this, Meghan, it's so important! And thanks for the book recommendations. Should be required reading in our public schools.
Bravo! Wow, this is very powerful and spot on! I heard a saying that the Native Americans are like seeds laying dormant in the soil and when conditions are right, they will grow and rise. I hope the conditions are getting closer to being right with the help of writers like you bringing forth the reality. I am forwarding this on to my husband, Michael who has been working with the Maidu recently trying to include their ecological knowledge in the fire rehab out in the Feather River and Sierra Valley area. You are on the right path, carry on my friend!!
Meghan, I really enjoyed reading about your re-educational process and where you are headed with this information as you continue to form your story (novel). Your lust for the truth is inspiring and I wish more people in this country would question the past because that's how we can better shape our future. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Robins, I enjoyed this and will be checking out your two book recommendations (and your own book when it’s finished).
Thanks so much for your enlightening study of language. It’s what we need to hear in the world right now. Loved your post. Kandi
