so True not Tree haha Freudian Slip . After 8 years living full time in Tahoe Vista I’ve become very attached. Come visit any time, I’d love to see you. Elise

I, too, feel like a visitor at times. Now residing in Tahoe for half the year, I feel disconnected from the community that is evolving without my participation. I don’t like the direction it’s going. More exclusive, less “low life locals” (remember that bumper sticker?). But the forces that bring changes are much bigger than I am. I still enjoy walking in the woods behind our house.

Thanks for this, Bill. It's strange isn't it because when our time overlapped in Tahoe, you were hugely influential in the community! Owning a business, coaching soccer, participating in so many youth programs that helped us kids. One of the strangest things about Tahoe is that there aren't many older generations (year-round) to guide the new growth. Or to remind people of things that others have tried and failed or succeeded in the past. It's a rotating door and that does feel bigger than just us. I'm still glad you get up there and enjoy the woods. I think that's what this article was about for me--that we all participate in our own way. Thanks for reading, Bill. I miss you and your family a lot.
